SOMNIUM
Game-Changing
Nano-Cellulose
Packaging for
Pharmaceuticals
Swedish Forest Industries, the biggest cellulose producer in Scandinavia, has developed a groundbreaking transparent nano-cellulose material. This innovative material possesses characteristics similar to a plastic film, yet it is exclusively composed of 100% nano-cellulose, made from wood fibre.
Swedish Forest Industries approached us with a unique challenge: to design pharmaceutical packaging that not only safeguards the authenticity of their product but also significantly reduces the risk of counterfeit copies. Counterfeiting is a substantial concern for pharmaceutical manufacturers.
The packaging is intended for Somnium, a sleeping medication. The concept behind the security feature draws inspiration from the way the sky transforms at night.
When viewed in low light conditions, a 3D image materializes, assuring the authenticity of the product. The images are printed on the front, inner, and back layers of the nano-cellulose, creating a 3D representation of a night sky.
